Explosives Investigation in Petten – Building Safely on Historic Ground
For the development of a new holiday park on the former Korfwater campsite in Petten, we conducted an extensive explosives investigation. Our team located and excavated several bunkers and carefully examined the site for suspicious objects. In addition, the soil was inspected at various depths to ensure the safe installation of new foundations, cables, and pipelines.
A collection of photos offers an impression of the area in earlier times, our detection work, and the discoveries we made. An impressive project where safety and historical research go hand in hand!

- Offshore – Circe 2 North Cable | Lowestoft – Zandvoort Offshore – Hollandse Kust Noord

Offshore – Circe 2 North Cable | Lowestoft – Zandvoort
Freyr supervised the SBI (Site Burial Inspection) and ID&C (Inspection, Detection & Clearance) phases of this offshore project. Thanks to Freyr’s successful contribution, the submarine cable was laid safely from England to the Netherlands.
Offshore – Dutch Coast North
Within this project, Freyr has been involved from the detection investigation to the clearing of explosives with the EODD. By leaving the project location safe in terms of explosives, the construction of an offshore wind farm can continue.

- Explosive Ordnance Investigation in Wirdum – A Safe Foundation for the Future
Explosive Ordnance Investigation in Wirdum – A Safe Foundation for the Future
In Wirdum, we conducted a thorough explosive ordnance investigation in preparation for new construction developments. Our team carefully surveyed the site to detect any potential explosives or suspicious objects, ensuring that building activities could proceed safely and without risk.

- Onshore – Construction Plot in Bavel | Onshore – Asterstraat, Doetinchem
Construction Plot in Bavel
Freyr conducted an investigation of the construction plot for a new home in an area suspected of containing munitions. After all suspicious objects were examined, the site was cleared, allowing construction of a beautiful new home to begin safely.
Aster Street, Doetinchem
To prepare a site near Asterstraat in Doetinchem, it was necessary to conduct explosives (OO) soil research. Part of the area appeared to contain a possible trench system. Freyr carried out real-time layer detection in collaboration with an archaeological agency. Suspicious objects were investigated, after which the site was cleared for further development.

Onshore – Holwierde
A challenging project in which the utilities were replaced in the historic village of Holwierde. Because there was a lot of fighting in the village, all excavation work was supervised by our experts (WW2)! The project was safely completed and the village is ready to go again.

- Project-Specific Risk Analysis – Hydrogen Pipeline Wagenborgen | Historical Preliminary Investigation – Westpolder Lauwersoog
Historical Preliminary Research – Westpolder Lauwersoog
Following a request from a client asking whether an area was also suspected of Explosive War Remnants (OW), Freyr conducted a Historical Preliminary Investigation. The project location was not suspected, allowing the client to carry out the work without additional measures.
Project-related Risk Analysis – Wagenborgen Hydrogen Pipeline
As a result of the war operations in and around Wagenborgen, Explosive Remnants of War (OO) may have been left behind in the soil. Through a Project-Based Risk Analysis, Freyr informed the client what the possible presence of OO means for them and how the construction of the hydrogen pipeline can take place safely.

- Onshore – Oppervlakte detectie | Onshore – Loppersum
Onshore – Surface detection
By making efficient use of our sensors and resources, Freyr has been able to map large areas quickly. After analyzing the measurement data, it can then be determined where possible Explosive Remnants of War are hidden. At a later stage, these objects are removed and, in the case of an OO, safely transferred to the EODD.
Onshore – Loppersum
Test trenches can also be placed in areas suspected of containing munitions. To ensure that no explosives are unintentionally dug up, Freyr experts accompany the excavator. In this way, excavation work can be carried out safely in heavily magnetically disturbed areas suspected of containing munitions.
